Ever hear someone say “the chamber doesn’t do anything for me?” For those members active in Chamber, this is a frustrating comment. As with anything, you get out of something what you put into it. And most of the time, when you ask one of these nay-sayers about their involvement, they haven’t attended an event or called the Chamber once during their membership. So it’s not a shocker (to us anyway).
For us active members, we know what a valuable resource the Chamber is to businesses. And you don’t have to be a professional networker either. With the Chamber’s reorganization in 2009, there are even more opportunities to get involved in an area and capacity that fits you best. And of course this is only one benefit – the selfish one. The Chamber services the community via economic development and legislative advocacy.
Trying using the valuable resource that you pay a membership to and then let us know what you think.
