Buzz Words: Health Care

There isn’t a much hotter topic in the national right now more than Health Care. So let’s add to the talk. Previous to the reorganization of the Chamber in 2009, members had limited resources regarding this important topic. This division came on board and changed this by 180 degrees. From local health care reform breakfasts and forums to presentations on AHEC and Wellness as it relates to our region. You would have to be hiding under a rock to know be more informed on health care and its impact on to those in our hometown. Thank you to all those who are working help educate us on the changes and how it affects us all.

The Health Care Education Committee provides on-going resources and education for our member companies on the ever changing health care regulations. The committee also works to increase the community’s awareness and support of the local Area Health Education Center through legislative support, program development and physician recruitment and retention.

Grow Our Own Committee

Karen Joiner, Care Network of Fort Smith

The Grow Our Own Committee helps identify the resources, legislative support, training grants and program developments needed to ensure that the health care training resources of the Fort Smith Region continue to be World Class. Also to help get children involved at a younger age, to educate them on the impact and benefits of the Health Care Field in hopes they will develop a passion and drive to enter into the field and practice in Fort Smith.

Wellness Committee

The Wellness Committee creates a community-wide wellness culture and initiative, including awareness, education, programs and competition amongst member companies to promote a healthy Greater Fort Smith Region.
