Umarex USA and 5 Star Productions, both of Fort Smith, have been working on a TV Show called American Airgunner since fall of 2011. This coming Wednesday, June 27th, the 2012 season of American Airgunner, sponsored by Umarex, begins airing on The Pursuit Channel, a station that is available as part of the basic packages of all DISH Network and DIRECTV subscribers.

During its Annual Spring Meeting, the Arkansas Municipal League named Fort Smith City Clerk Sherri Gard its Municipal Clerk of the year for 2012.

Six business students at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith got a taste of what it means to be a leader in business when they attended a workshop designed for young professionals transitioning into leadership positions.
The students included Matthew Beyer, Ethan Coker and Syda (Nit) Xaymongkhoun, all of Fort Smith; Thomas Marrazzo, Pocola; Grace Stengel, Ratcliff; and Michael Hamilton, Van Buren.
Beyer said he benefited from the workshop.

Fort Smith Fire Department is pleased to announce two new Bomb Technicians have joined the Fire Department Bomb Squad. Gabe Flanagan and Jesse Chandler recently earned the certification as Bomb Technicians. This is a certification earned through rigorous training in a program conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Army.
June 1, 2012, Flanagan and Chandler graduated from the Hazardous Device School (HDS) in Huntsville Alabama at the Redstone Arsenal.

Fort Smith Fire Chief Mike Richards recently promoted two members of the Fort Smith Fire Department during a badge pinning ceremony held at Fire Station 1.
Firefighter Les Pyeatt was promoted to the rank of Driver. Pyeatt, a 9-year veteran firefighter with the City of Fort Smith, joined the Fort Smith Fire Department in April 2003. He also serves as a member of the Fort Smith Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team.

“Step Up to Leadership,” a workshop designed for young professionals transitioning into leadership positions, will be held June 20 at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.
Deadline to sign up for the breakfast workshop, which is slated for 7:30-11:30 a.m. in the Latture Conference Center of the Business and Industrial Institute Building, is June 13. The event is free for Family Enterprise Center members and $100 for non-members, according to Dave Robertson, FEC director.

In January 2012, the Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority took over management of the Deer Trails Golf Course in Chaffee Crossing. It will be a part of the Chaffee Crossing sports complex that will also feature softball, soccer, and volleyball.
Deer Trails Golf Course provides 18-hole play on a 9-hole layout with different tee boxes. It now boasts excellent hybrid Bermuda greens for a beautiful par-71 course. Deer Trails is open to the public and offers leagues suitable for any skilled golfer during the week, as well as scheduled weekend tournaments.

The American Cancer Society is seeking companies who would like to participate in the life-changing Relay For Life event in North Sebastian County. The event will be held on Friday, June 15, on the campus of the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m., June 16.
